What is the Data Champions network?

The aim of the Data Champions Network is to actively participate in shaping the digital change in research, to promote good research data management and to openly discuss questions regarding the handling of research data.

Data Champions are members of all disciplines and status groups of the university. Data Champions are volunteers. The Data Champions Network is jointly organized by the Data Champions.

Who can become Data Champion?

Any member of Bielefeld University who wants to actively shape the digital revolution in science can become a Data Champion. You don't have to be an expert* in data handling yet, because the Data Champions program offers numerous opportunities for further education and exchange.

What are the tasks of Data Champions?

Data Champions

• talk to researchers about their experiences in handling research data and promote discussions in their working groups and faculties
• collect and communicate the needs of their discipline in the handling of research data
• advise researchers in their department on questions of research data management
• take part in regular meetings of the Data Champion network
• participate in the development of best practices and standards for handling research data
